The new ‘Tagliabue’ preschool fits into the territory as an innovative educational centre in dialogue with the city and the surrounding natural context. The building, in fact, introduces concepts such as play, discovery, nature, exploration and imagination within the architecture itself, producing a stimulating and interactive space suitable for children’s growth. The new school becomes one with the existing garden. A building that dissolves into nature, becoming part of it also from a visual point of view. In fact, the two levels of the building take up the heights and colours of the existing trees, seeking an architecture that blends in with the foliage but at the same time is a recognisable element of the urban surroundings. The existing trees are maintained and the architecture is modelled after them, like a house in the woods that coexists with its surroundings, without causing damage to the environment. Furthermore, an architectural model is proposed in which there is always a mix of educational, recreational, technical, administrative and service functions, generating a new, dynamic and vibrant school ecosystem. A place where the growth and safety of children is at the centre, but which at the same time also addresses the urban and social needs of its neighbourhood.
