The project was conceived as a new gateway to Monte Ortobene, a place of transition where the city merges with the natural landscape. The project proposes a series of integrated strategies to improve sustainable mobility, strengthen green infrastructure and enhance public spaces, creating a system that connects the urban fabric with the mountain through paths, meeting places and new services for citizens and visitors.

The aim is to transform the entrance area into a functional hub with its own identity, capable of welcoming, guiding and inviting visitors to discover Monte Ortobene. The project is structured on several levels, from the territorial to the architectural scale, generating a widespread system of spaces that improve accessibility and the quality of the environment, with sustainable solutions integrated into the context.

The project enhances Nuoro's historical and cultural identity through panoramic views, iconic signage elements and new visual frames that enhance the mountain landscape. The new entrance to Monte Ortobene becomes more than just a passageway: it is a space for rest, discovery and sharing, strengthening the link between the city and nature. The public spaces designed not only improve accessibility and enjoyment of the mountain, but also dialogue with the collective memory of the place, recalling the tradition of Sunday walks, community gatherings and the historical devotion linked to Solitudine. The design of the spaces and the choice of materials are inspired by the local context, evoking the atmosphere and forms of the historic city of Nuoro. (P)ORTOBENE is thus a model of accessibility and sustainability, a point of connection that restores Nuoro's renewed dialogue with its mountain.
