The intervention area on the banks of the Ebro is a privileged spot overlooking the nature of the river and the park opposite, and from which the city can even be admired. The biodiversity tower is set in this context with the intention of strengthening the intrinsic relationships between nature and heritage through observation, learning and dissemination, also establishing a dialogue with the adjacent Casa de la Ciencia.
The biodiversity tower places human beings in the context of the Ebro, while at the same time making their footprints disappear; they become invisible observers and become part of the natural dynamics, dissociating themselves, for once, from their immediate surroundings. An observation tower that is at the same time a catalyst for individual reflections on the importance of urban biodiversity, the rise of water and climate change.
The first landscape visible from the tower is precisely the wetlands, or flood zones that represent an ecosystem rich in biodiversity, essential for the balance of the entire urban area of Logroño. Lately, however, climate change is causing more and more frequent floods that put this essential and delicate ecosystem at risk.
