Until 1953, the espolon park was characterised by an ‘old kiosk’, like any significant 18th century park, which catalysed its social life with concerts and public events. An element that constructed the aesthetics and central role of the park itself, managing to organise public space and time. A social and sociable architecture capable of strengthening human relations and stimulating the interest and urban presence of the population. The old kiosk exploits the temporality of Concentrico to briefly bring back memories of what the park and the city used to be, while at the same time stimulating a new sociability through the inclusion of an element that has always been in the nature of the park itself.
The old kiosk is an urban attraction that harks back to the traditional uses of an 18th-century music stand, but at the same time encourages greater flexibility and openness towards the park. Not only can it therefore be used for small events and concerts, but it also becomes a new seat towards the park. It also builds a visual bridge with the rest of the city, reclaiming the territory of the park now occupied by cars, and re-establishing a direct relationship with the surrounding built environment. Like the original, it also acts as an urban catalyst, and is constructed through the use of all 33 panels.
