The project for the new Comun General de Fascia stems from the demolition and reconstruction of the former Vittorio Veneto barracks. Given the historical value and typicality of the settlement context of the Sen Jan locality, the choice was made for a building that would relate to the pre-existing buildings, keeping their identity intact and not altering their historical architectural relationships. Preserving these relationships is fundamental to maintaining the local identity, while introducing contemporary architecture that reflects the renewed needs of the community. For this reason, the new building respects the ground trace of the former barracks with its expansions, as well as the building heights required by regulations that partly reflect those of the neighbourhood. In this way, the new architecture fits in without altering the already established balances and without altering the landscape that has been shaped over the decades. Moreover, the new building takes up and reinterprets some of the most characteristic and recognisable architectural elements of both the former barracks and the surrounding buildings, such as the green shutters, the white window frames, the warm yellow-reddish-coloured façades, the local stone plinth, the continuous terraces and the sloping roofs.
